Driving the Ford 9N Tractor
Mowing the fields with the tractor. I also show the new circuit breaker I had to install. The way the wiring job on this is, all the electrical current from the battery (except for the starter) flows through a circuit breaker and the breaker failed last night and would not re-set, causing the engine to shut down. I used a Buss 30 amp self-resetting unit.

very nice running tractor
This brings back memories of my first time driving this model tractor. I was pulling a tiller attachment, and it was working pretty hard most of the time. I think I had to keep it in first or second gear. It was fun though.
Very cool. I love how the PTO sounds ramping up to speed.
I can’t believe my eyes: a 9N that starts the first try without having to crank for a long time? I usually get “crank, crank, pot. crank crank crank pop pop sputter sputter…..run”. Nice vid!
its a bitch to drive those things and work on them
kjeezy351- had the same trouble until i put a electronic ignition now starts first time every time…
9n sold for 585 dollars new
@brian93ist I did the inflation calculator and found that $585 in 1939 is about $9,200 now. I looked at the price of a new New Holland 28HP tractor which would be a comparable machine today and it’s about $14,000 so it’s not too far off in value in the money of the time.
@retrochad
I’m sorry, but I find it hard to believe you could sell this for $9000, 2000 at the most.
does it have a power sterring
